Bergeron tosses no hitter to help DBacks reach the 16U final

Gage Bergeron had a performance to remember in the semi-final match up of the Baseball Showcase Oppo Taco tournament this past Sunday in Goodyear, Arizona. The 16-year-old Mountain View junior tossed a no-hitter over four innings of work as he lead his team, the D-Backs, to a win in the semi-final and a berth in the championship game which they would go on to win. He said he did not realize he had a no-no going and said it was “so nice” when his coach broke the news to him about it.

“All the teammates having to hype you up,” Bergeron said. “That was really nice.”

Outside of baseball, Bergeron says his focus is on academics. He said his GPA is 4.5 and he volunteers at Feed My Starving Children and Sunshine Acres as part of his commitment to the National Honor Society.  He said his life goal is to become a neurologist and attend Stanford for college.
