Avila leads D-Backs to 16U Championship

Blake Avila put on a clinic with the bat in the championship game of the 16U Baseball Showcase Oppo Taco tournament. The 16-year-old Gila Ridge student was 3-3 with an RBI-triple, RBI-single, another base knock and was hit by a pitch.

Avila said the performance was really important, adding, “it feels great to be a champion."

With the performance Avila was selected to the Baseball Showcase all-star team for the first-time.

“That’s really cool,” Avila said. “This is the first-time I got an all-star.”
